Go Shockers!!!

Last night Dylan had his first soccer game of the season. I am glad he had a chance to play in the spring when we were living in Omaha so he knows what hes is doing now. He is always excited to go to practice and doesn't cry when he is knocked down. I think he is a good player but he is so methodical and over thinks his moves when he plays. It is pretty funny to watch him concentrating so hard. I have been telling him to just go for it and run fast! Dylan got a chance to play goalie and he prevented the other team from scoring! I think the final score was one to zero and we won. Dylan loves his shirt and we think it is cool that it has his name on it. After the game we went to dinner with some of our friends who have kids on Dylan's team. So I guess I really am a soccer mom minus the mini van. Most of our friends are mini van lovers and we have yet to join the club. I am too young to be driving a mini van aren't I?

Jaxson can finally crawl!

He's coming for my camera here
A cute picture of the boys

After a month of trying really hard to crawl Jaxson is finally doing it. Tonight was the first time he actually crawled for real, as opposed to pushing himself around with his arms or just scooting. He just turned 9 months old so he is crawling a month sooner than Dylan did. I am surprised by those babies crawling around by 6 months, maybe I just didn't put my kids on their stomachs enough. I can't believe how big both the boys are getting. I predict Jaxson to be walking at 12 months also a month earlier than Dylan did. So far he is doing everything a month sooner than Dylan so we will see if I am right. Dylan hit a major growth spurt this summer and suddenly he has needed new socks and shoes but his clothes still seem to fit. I am not sure if it is really just his feet that got huge but it seems like it! They are growing up too fast!

Dylan's First Day Of Preschool!!!

Preschool couldn't come soon enough for both Dylan and I. He was so bored this summer we were both going a little crazy. He really loved going to preschool in Omaha and was asking me when he could go back all summer! Well we found a great preschool that is only five minutes away from our house and we were able to get him registered last minute! He was originally going to do preschool with someone from church, but we decided it might be better if he had a real classroom experience, especially since he did last year. He will be going 3 days a week for 5 hours each day (a definite plus!) Since they have all day kindergarten here they like to prepare the kids with longer preschool which is fine by me. My mom bought Dylan a spider man lunch box so I went and got him a matching back pack! He loves spider man these days and also power rangers. (I hate power rangers DUMBEST SHOW EVER!) Anyways, he really enjoyed his first day there, and I hope he has a great school year.

I just got back from Maryland on Sunday. I took the kids there for a couple weeks, since Nick has been pretty busy with his residency. I also hadn't been home in a year and a half so I definitely needed to visit! We all had a blast. I won't bother typing everything we did, since you can watch the slide show. My mom was a huge help and provided me a much needed break. I was kind of spoiled actually. I took a nap everyday and she pretty much took over my job as mom while we were there. The kids loved it and she enjoyed spoiling them! I was lucky enough to hang out with some friends and even went to the movies twice! I saw the Batman movie and Pineapple Express. Batman was really good, and I recommend watching it, if you haven't seen it. We also had unusually nice weather while we were there. Usually it is hot and humid in August but we lucked out. I really didn't want to leave but Nick said we had to come back! Dylan was really attached to my brother and wanted to hang out with him all the time, it was really cute. In a way it has been good to get back home and fall back into a routine. I miss the east coast like crazy, and I wish we were living there. The summer has really flown by, I can't believe it is nearly September!

Chickasaw State Park

This past weekend we went to Chickasaw State Park with some friends of ours.  Basically it is a large lake with a swimming beach.  It was only an hour drive from where we live.  It was a gorgeous drive and the lake was located in a beautiful area.  It was very hot that day and I spent a lot of time trying to make sure Jaxson didn't over heat!  Sometimes hot day trips are not the easiest with babies, but we made it work and had fun anyways.  Dylan didn't want to leave!  Hopefully we can make it back there again.  I wish we had a real beach but you have to make due with what you have!

The Memphis Children's Museum

I took Dylan to visit the Memphis Children's museum a little while ago and here are the pictures. It was a fun place and he liked it a lot. I think it was pretty comparable to the Omaha museum just way more crowded! Unfortunately for us it is also a 20 minute drive from our house. The zoo is that far away too. That is one thing I miss about Omaha, we had that stuff 5 minutes away! It has been 100 degrees here in Memphis so we haven't been doing many outdoor activities. We had a play set installed in our backyard when we first moved in and Dylan has barely used it since he gets over heated after 5 minutes outside. We beat the heat by staying in the air conditioning and making runs to Sonic down the road. They have great drinks and if you go during happy hour they are 1/2 price! There are a group of girls that do pilates 3 mornings a week at the church. I have been trying to go even though it is at 9:00 am. That is really early for me especially with 2 kids. I mainly go so Dylan can run around with the other 15 kids in the church gym. I am not sure how much of a work out I get since Jaxson doesn't like sitting in his car seat the whole time. Nick has been busy as usual and I will have to post about him later. He has a much more exciting day than I do!

Catching Up (July pictures)

These pictures are from the sprinkler park and pool we visited this month. The sprinkler park was kind of a drive, but Dylan had fun. The pool is in an apartment complex down the road. My friend sneaks in with her kids so I joined her. There aren't any public pools where we live so what else can we do? Jaxson likes the water and doesn't mind getting wet at all. I am hoping to enroll Dylan in swimming lessons this summer, when I get around to getting a gym membership. At least the gyms seem to have outdoor pools!
